Learn more about the West and Airport Corridors

Project Overview

After more than a decade of transformative growth, the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) of Central Oklahoma has created a Transit System Plan for its member cities including Edmond, Norman, and Oklahoma City. The Transit System Plan is a long-term guide for the region's transportation policies, investments, and projects.

With the Transit System Plan complete, the RTA advanced into an Alternatives Analysis that evaluated both the North/South Corridor and the East Corridor to identify the type of transit to pursue and to select feasible station locations. As North/South and East Corridor Locally Preferred Alternatives (LPAs) move forward into the environmental and engineering phase, two new corridors have entered the Alternatives Analysis Process.

The West and Airport Corridors were identified in the 2021 Transit System Plan as two regional corridors to be explored for high-capacity transit routes. Like the process recently completed for the North/South and East Corridors, the West and Airport Corridors will be developed through the Alternatives Analysis process.
